WEISS SSL/SSR Synch Shaft

The WEISS SSL Synch Shaft is designed to mechanically synchronize parallel linear units within multi-axis or gantry-style motion systems. This synchronization shaft is intended for linear units in the BR/BT family and is used where coordinated motion between axes is required. Torsional rigidity, internal hub torque capacity, and configurable bore dimensions, make the SSL suitable for applications where reliable torque transmission and synchronized movement are critical. For longer distances, bearing supports may be required.

The WEISS SSR Synch Shaft is also designed for synchronizing linear units in BR/BT-based systems, but places added emphasis on installation geometry and maximum transmissible torque. The overall shaft length is best determined from the distance between shaft ends, with length based on working length plus twice a defined dimension, reflecting a more installation-specific synchronization component for linked-axis motion systems. As with the SSL, longer distances may require bearing supports.

Linear Actuator FAQs

The following frequently asked questions provide a quick overview of the WEISS Synch Shafts. These are designed to mechanically synchronize parallel linear units within multi-axis or gantry-style motion systems. The FAQs below address common questions related to application use, configuration options, and the advantages of BR-D actuators in modern automated production systems.

What is the purpose of a WEISS SSL or SSR synch shaft?

WEISS SSL and SSR synch shafts are used to mechanically synchronize parallel linear units so they move together in a coordinated manner. They help ensure consistent motion across linked axes in multi-axis and gantry-style systems.

What is the difference between the WEISS SSL and WEISS SSR synch shafts?

Both are designed to synchronize linear units, but they are different shaft variants intended for different installation and torque requirements. The SSL is suited for one set of dimensional and rigidity needs, while the SSR is configured for applications with different mounting and torque transmission characteristics.

Are WEISS SSL and SSR synch shafts standalone motion products?

No. WEISS SSL and SSR synch shafts are synchronization components used as part of a larger linear motion system. They are intended to link parallel axes, not function as standalone actuators.

When should a WEISS synch shaft be used?

A WEISS synch shaft should be used when two parallel linear units need to operate together with matched motion. This is especially useful in gantry systems and other applications where stable, synchronized travel is required across multiple axes.

What should be considered when selecting a WEISS SSL or SSR synch shaft?

Selection should be based on the mechanical requirements of the application, including shaft length, torque demands, torsional rigidity, bore size, and overall installation layout. The correct synch shaft should match both the dimensional needs and the performance demands of the system.
