WEISS BT080S Linear Actuator

The BT-S series of actuators combines a steel reinforced polyurethane belt drive with a grooved roller/track guideway design resulting in an actuator capable of 10 m/s maximum velocity. The mechanism is housed within a precision extruded aluminum profile reducing internal contamination and providing several mounting options. The carriage comes machined with tapped mounting and precision dowel holes to simplify accurate attachement of tooling; two standard carriage lengths, as well as multiple carriages are available to reinforce load capacity and increase bearing lifetime. A variety of accesories including limit switches, mounting hardware, motor adapters and couplers are available as well as a full range of connection adapters to streamline the design of multi-axis configurations with other WEISS actuators.

Linear Actuator FAQs

The following frequently asked questions provide a quick overview of the WEISS BT-S Series Linear Actuators. These combine a steel reinforced polyurethane belt drive with a compact and sturdy profile rail guideway design resulting in an actuator with excellent price to performance ratio. The FAQs below address common questions related to application use, configuration options, and the advantages of BR-D actuators in modern automated production systems.

What type of drive system is used in the WEISS BT-S series?

The WEISS BT-S series utilizes a pre-tensioned, steel-reinforced polyurethane timing belt drive system. This configuration enables high-speed linear motion with consistent repeatability and low maintenance requirements.

What types of applications are best suited for the BT-S series?

The BT-S series is designed for highly dynamic applications requiring fast, accurate, and repeatable linear motion. Typical use cases include high-speed automation systems, packaging equipment, pick-and-place operations, and multi-axis positioning systems.

How does the BT-S series handle load and guidance?

Each actuator integrates two parallel, zero-backlash rail guide systems within a precision aluminum profile. This design supports high load capacities and ensures stable, accurate motionโ€”even under high-speed or high-mass conditions.

How are the internal components protected from contamination?

The BT-S series includes a corrosion-resistant, anti-static polyurethane sealing strip that protects the internal drive and guide components from dust and particulate contamination, helping maintain performance in industrial environments.

What maintenance is required for the BT-S series actuators?

Maintenance is minimal and simplified through integrated lubrication ports on the carriage. These allow for easy re-lubrication of the guide system without disassembly, reducing downtime and supporting long service life.
