WEISS SR-D Series

The WEISS SR-D Series represents a class of highly engineered linear actuators built around a precision ball screw drive and two parallel, integrated, zero-backlash rail guides. Designed with compact dimensions, these units deliver exceptional performance characteristics—specifically high speeds, rigorous accuracy, and exact repeatability.

The integration of the two parallel rail guides within the precision-extruded AL 6063 aluminum profile allows the unit to handle high load capacities and optimal motion cycles for the movement of larger masses. To maintain exact precision in active manufacturing environments, the internal mechanics are fully shielded by two parallel, circulating anti-static polyurethane sealing strips and a solid aluminum cover.

WEISS SR-S Series

The WEISS SR-S Series features a precision ball screw drive combined with a single integrated guide rail. Designed to strike an excellent balance between price and performance, these compact units are built to meet the rigorous demands of high-precision and high-thrust industrial applications.

At its core, the SR-S uses a precision-extruded 6063 AL aluminum profile with an integrated zero-backlash ball rail guide system. A corrosion-resistant protection strip seals the profile, shielding internal components from dust and contaminants. For specialized use cases, the SR-S is also available in a dual -carriage configuration, which utilizes rigidly connected right- and left-handed ball screws to drive two carriages simultaneously in opposite directions.

Direct Comparison

While both series utilize high-precision ball screw drives and are built from extruded aluminum profiles, their structural designs dictate entirely different use cases:

  • Guide System Architecture: The SR-D features two parallel zero-backlash rail guides, giving it a wider footprint and the ability to handle significantly higher moment loads and larger masses. The SR-S relies on a single integrated ball rail guide, making it more compact and cost-effective.
  • Environmental Sealing: The SR-D utilizes a robust combination of two anti-static polyurethane sealing strips and a solid aluminum cover to protect its internal rails. The SR-S is shielded by a single corrosion-resistant protection strip.
  • Ideal Applications: Because of its dual-rail stability, the SR-D is exceptionally well-suited for moving heavy offset loads or acting as the foundational lower axis in a heavy-duty, multi-axis gantry system. The SR-S is the go-to choice for standard, high-thrust point-to-point positioning, and its optional dual-carriage setup makes it highly specialized for automated clamping operations.
