Screw Driven Linear Actuators
WEISS BR-D Series
The WEISS BR-D Series represents a class of highly engineered linear actuators built around a pre-tensioned, steel-reinforced polyurethane timing belt drive and two parallel, integrated, zero-backlash rail guides. Designed with compact dimensions, these units deliver exceptional performance characteristics—specifically highly dynamic motion, rigorous accuracy, and exact repeatability.
The integration of the two parallel rail guides within the precision-extruded AL 6063 aluminum profile allows the unit to handle high load capacities and optimal motion cycles for the movement of larger masses over long travel distances. To maintain exact precision in active manufacturing environments, the internal mechanics are fully shielded by a corrosion-resistant, anti-static polyurethane sealing strip and a solid aluminum cover.
WEISS BR-S Series
The WEISS BR-S Series features a high-performance timing belt drive combined with a single integrated guide rail. Designed to strike an excellent balance between price and performance, these compact units are built to meet the rigorous demands of high-speed and highly dynamic industrial applications.
At its core, the BR-S uses a precision-extruded 6063 AL aluminum profile with an integrated zero-backlash ball rail guide system. A corrosion-resistant protection strip seals the profile, shielding internal components from dust and contaminants. For specialized use cases, the BR-S is also available in a dual-carriage configuration, which mounts the carriages to opposite runs of the timing belt to drive them simultaneously in opposite directions.
WEISS BT-S Series
The WEISS BT-S Series features a high-performance timing belt drive paired with an integrated precision roller guide system. Engineered for maximum velocity and exceptionally smooth travel, these units excel in applications where low noise, high-speed motion, and continuous duty cycles are critical.
Housed within a rigid 6063 AL extruded aluminum profile, the BT-S utilizes specialized track rollers that glide along hardened steel guide rods. This roller guide architecture is inherently resistant to debris and contamination, making it highly durable even in rugged industrial environments. Like the BR-S, it features a corrosion-resistant protection strip to shield the internal mechanics from particulate buildup.
WEISS BR-Z Series
The WEISS BR-Z Series is a highly specialized timing belt actuator expressly designed for vertical (Z-axis) positioning and lifting applications. Engineered to optimize vertical thrust, the BR-Z is often configured so that the drive housing and carriage remain stationary while the aluminum profile itself extends and retracts.
This fixed-drive, moving-profile design drastically reduces the moving mass, allowing for highly dynamic vertical acceleration and precise positioning of payloads without motor weight slowing the system down. Built with an integrated zero-backlash ball rail guide, the BR-Z is fully enclosed and protected by a robust sealing strip, making it the ideal vertical axis for high-speed Cartesian robots and pick-and-place gantry systems.
WEISS BR-E Series
The WEISS BR-E Series is a compact, cost-effective timing belt linear actuator designed for lighter payloads and standard positioning tasks. Serving as the economical entry point of the WEISS belt-driven lineup, it delivers reliable linear motion without over-engineering for loads that don't require the heavy-duty structural rigidity of the larger BR-D or BR-S models.
Operating on a streamlined internal guide system within a minimalist aluminum extrusion, the BR-E maintains a highly compact physical footprint. Despite its streamlined focus, it retains essential environmental protection via a resilient cover strip, making it a perfect, high-value fit for light packaging, sensor positioning, and simple automated dispensing tasks where machine space is at a premium.
Direct Comparison
While all five series utilize high-performance timing belt drives and are built from precision-extruded aluminum profiles, their distinct structural designs dictate entirely different industrial use cases:
- Guide System Architecture: The BR-D features two parallel zero-backlash rail guides, giving it a wider footprint for handling significantly higher moment loads and larger masses. The BR-S and BR-Z rely on a single integrated ball rail guide, prioritizing compactness and targeted vertical stability, respectively. The BT-S utilizes an integrated precision roller guide system for continuous, smooth travel, while the BR-E features a streamlined internal guide designed specifically for minimal physical footprint.
- Environmental Sealing: The BR-D utilizes a robust combination of an anti-static polyurethane sealing strip and a solid aluminum cover to protect its dual internal rails. The BR-S, BT-S, BR-Z, and BR-E are all shielded by variations of a single, highly resilient, corrosion-resistant protection strip.
- Ideal Applications: The BR-D is exceptionally well-suited for moving heavy offset loads or acting as the foundational lower axis in a high-speed gantry system. The BR-S is the go-to choice for standard, high-speed point-to-point positioning over long strokes. The BT-S excels in continuous duty cycles where low noise and high-speed motion are critical. The BR-Z is explicitly engineered for highly dynamic vertical (Z-axis) lifting in pick-and-place setups. The BR-E serves as the most cost-effective solution for light payloads, sensor positioning, and restricted-space applications.
